Today, we at the Goodluck Jonathan Foundation (GJF) honour the memories of patriots who paid the supreme price to birth this democracy.

We celebrate citizens across spheres who have continued to work for the growth, unity, and development of the country, and for the deepening of our democracy.

As we mark another milestone of civil rule, we reaffirm our commitment to nurturing democratic values, fostering dialogue, and supporting peaceful political transitions across the continent.

True democracy is sustained when the rule of law is guaranteed and the arms of government work independently, discharging their duties without hindrance.

Democracy flourishes when we understand our differences and work together for a united, just, and peaceful future.

The Goodluck Jonathan Foundation calls on leaders to make greater commitments to democratic values and to work towards building a peaceful, just, and inclusive nation.

A nation where democracy is not only about elections, but also about building transparent institutions, promoting equity, and empowering every citizen to be heard.

Let us build a democracy that protects the dignity of all citizens, upholds justice, and works for all – especially the youth, women, and marginalised communities.
